The RESET Network brings together researchers and decision-makers across the Global South to strengthen local leadership and foster collaboration and knowledge exchange in just energy transitions.
The RESET Network’s aim is to deliver solutions appropriate for individual countries, delivering tangible benefits for sustainable development, and a meaningful contribution to global climate mitigation.
The RESET Network brings together
- South-led economic and policy innovation for energy and climate transition grounded in local needs
- An inclusive, collaborative, and transparent approach across a multi-country network, producing open-source and locally tailored tools, resources, and reports
- Training to bridge gaps in technical and institutional capacity across researchers and decision-makers to achieve better policy outcomes

How the network evolved
Launched in early 2026, the RESET Network evolved from the Multi-Country Energy Transitions (MCET) Network and Climate Action Teams.
MCET, established in 2022 as the Multi-Country Electricity Transitions Network, is a global alliance of energy modelers and policymakers focused on the Global South. It leverages advanced, open-source energy planning tools to identify the best pathways, costs, and financing opportunities for national energy transitions, empowering countries to take bold, informed action toward a sustainable future.
MCET continues its work within the broader RESET Network.
Climate Action Teams was an international team of researchers working in collaboration with climate negotiators from several countries and private sector carbon trading experts to develop a new mechanism for international climate cooperation.
A ‘climate action team’ (CAT) offers a new model to enable host and partner countries to cooperate to genuinely reduce global emissions and enable more ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions in both. The CAT network was folded into the RESET Network in 2026.
